When should I see a knee or shoulder specialist?

What is arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery?
It is surgery done through small cuts using a tiny camera and fine instruments. Compared with open surgery it usually means less pain, smaller scars and faster recovery.
Do I always need surgery for knee or shoulder pain?
No. Many conditions — including early arthritis, partial tendon tears and frozen shoulder — improve with exercises, medicines and sometimes injections. Surgery is recommended only when it offers a clear benefit.
How long does recovery take after ACL reconstruction?
Most patients walk with support soon after surgery and return to routine activity within weeks. Returning to competitive sport usually takes several months — often nine months or more — depending on strength and control.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring all previous X-ray, MRI or CT films and reports, prescriptions, and a list of your current medicines — especially blood thinners and diabetes medicines.
Is knee replacement safe for elderly patients?
Age alone is not a barrier. Overall health matters more. A full medical check-up is done before surgery to make sure it is safe for you.
